Google Chrome - More Popular Than Internet Explorer

For the first time ever, Chrome averaged a higher traffic share than Internet Explorer (IE) worldwide. In North America, Explorer still has the lead by 37 to 26 percent. In Europe however, Firefox is ahead of both Chrome and Explorer. Firefox is also dominating in Africa. The real reason for the high Chrome traffic is due to South America. Nearly 50% of all internet users in South America are actively using Google Chrome. It is continuing to grow and become more popular.

Horse Rescued From Ocean

An Arabian horse was spotted two miles offshore the coast near Santa Barbara. The 6 year old horse was spooked by ocean waves crashing on the shore. It is valued at $150,000. Her owner said that instead of running from the waves, she swam two miles out to sea. The animal stayed floating despite its tail which was wrapped around one of its legs for almost 3 hours. A rescue crew managed to save it. The horse was exhausted and had water in its lungs, but is going to be fine.

Mother Arrested After Taking 5 Year Old Daughter Tanning

Patricia Krentcil, mother of a 5 year old little girl living in New Jersey denies all charges of bringing her daughter in to go tanning. The little girl showed up at school with a horrible sunburn and when asked about it, her teacher overheard her say that she went tanning with mommy. School officials alerted the police. Her mom denied the claims and blamed it on a sunburn from outside. The law prohibits children under 14 years of age to be allowed in the tanning booth. Patricia Krentcil admitted to letting her daughter in the room but still stands firm that she was never exposed to the actual tanning bed. After much questioning, police still believe that Patricia Krentcil's daughter did go tanning with her mother. She was released from jail but charged with felony child endangerment and a $25,000 bond.

Father Discovers His Autistic Son Is Being Taunted by Teachers

Stuart Chaifetz was taken back when he heard that his 10 year old son Akian was getting into trouble at school. His teacher claimed he was having violent outbursts and hitting his teacher in his classroom of other children with disabilities. Akian had never shown this type of behavior at home so his father was very shocked and skeptical. He decided to meet with Akian's teachers and brought in a behaviorist to examine his son's behavior. The behaviorist sat through many of his classes and witnessed none of what the teacher described. Chaifetz finally had enough and sent his son to school with a recorder attached to him in order to record audio throughout his school day. He was heartbroken and furious when he heard what was going on at school. His autistic son was being extremely bullied by not other kids his age, but by the teachers. They were yelling at him to shut up, calling him names, and having explicit adult conversation right in front of the kids. Chaifetz could not believe what he was hearing. "I want an apology, not for me, but so one day I can play this video back for my son and say Akian, you didn't deserve anything that happened to you. I'm not going to sue anybody. I'm not going to file a lawsuit. It's not about money. It's about dignity. This is to reclaim my son's dignity." He asks for a public apology and that they resign. The teachers have not yet been fired.

Teen Texting On The Rise - Phone Calling Down

Teens are increasingly texting far more than making phone calls. It has become the dominant form of communication between teens to parents and friends. The largest increase has been the age group among 14-17 year old's. They sent an average of 100 texts per day. In 2009 that number was 60. This increase in texting has led to a decrease in using cellphones for phone calls. People are beginning to worry about the ability of teens to know how to make a proper phone call. These skills are important for finding jobs for the future and being able to communicate successfully.

Snoring Children - More Likely to Have Behavioral Problems

Over 11,000 children from birth to seven years old were part in a study to show the affect that snoring can have. It was found that little ones who struggled with sleep apnea, mouth breathing, and snoring, were 40 to 100 percent more likely to develop a neurobehavioral problem by seven years old. Sleep breathing problems decrease the amount of oxygen to the brain and increase carbon dioxide levels that can cause interruption during sleep when one's body is in the restorative process. It can also mess with the balance of various brain chemicals. It is important to take note whether a child is sleeping peacefully, and action should be taken if they are not.

Excessive Eating Can Result in Memory Loss Among the Elderly

Caspar Benson / Getty ImagesMemory loss had been tied to overeating with old age in a recent study. 1,233 people ages 70 to 89 were surveyed. All of the participants were free of dementia but 163 had some symptoms of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). Participants kept track of their daily calorie intake and they were divided into three groups. The lowest group had about 600-1500 calories per day. The middle group had about 1500-2150, and the last group had between 2150 and 6,000 each day. The people who ate the highest number of calories were twice as likely to to have MCI. These extra calories doubled the risk of Cognitive Impairment.

No Transplant for Dying Illegal Immigrant

kidney35 year-old Jesus Navarro is married and a father of a 3 year old little girl. His kidneys begun to shut down eight years ago. Every day after work he would come home and cleanse his blood of toxins using a home dialysis machine. But lately, he has been getting worse and is in desperate need of a kidney transplant. Navarro has a willing donor and they have private insurance to cover the cost of a transplant. UC San Francisco Medical Center say they refuse to do one because he is an illegal immigrant so they can't be sure he will receive proper follow up care. Critics say that that providing this kind of care would discourage home countries to get their own health systems. If Navarro does not get the kidney transplant, he will die. His life hinges on the status of "Illegal Immigrant."

McDonald's to Open Restaurant in America's Healthiest City

Loma Linda, California, has one of the longest life rates in the world. It has been tobacco free for 3 decades and about half of the population are Seventh-day Adventists. Many of them are vegetarians and do not have alcohol or even caffeine. Over half of the city council agreed to opening a McDonalds restaurant in Loma Linda, but the ones opposed are very upset and doing what they can to overturn the decision. The reason they outlawed smoking was because it was harmful to the health of the people. The opposed council members argue that fast food is also harmful to their health. A statement was made about how the McDonalds menu is improving but an outraged member of the Healthy Loma Linda Coalition didn't want to hear it. "Trying to say there's a healthy menu at McDonald's is like putting 5 milligrams of Vitamin C in a cigarette."
